Hi, I am Angela Riviere, Head of Sociology and Social
and Cultural Anthropology at Greengates School. Originally from
London, England, I have been living in Mexico City and teaching at
Greengates since August 2002.
I completed a BA Hons in Sociology in London before moving to
Canterbury, in Kent where I gained an MA in International Relations at
Kent University. After working for two years for the Corporation
of London I decided that a 9-5 job really was not for me and undertook
my PGCE in Social Sciences at Goldsmiths College, University of London
in 1996. I then taught in a mixed comprehensive in South East
London for six years, where I was Head of the Humanities Faculty.
Having experienced the challenges of
inner city teaching I decided on taking a chance and experience something new and exciting.
Mexico City and Greengates was it! In the time that I have been
here I have experienced the wonders of living in such a culturally rich
country, with the opportunity to travel extensively, learn a new
language and experience the many sides of Mexican life. |
